Alternatives North is a social justice coalition operating in the Northwest Territories. Within our ranks are representatives of churches, labour unions, environmental organizations, women and family advocates and anti-poverty groups. Individual citizens are important participants in our work.
Alternatives North regularly meets Wednesday's at noon in the boardroom of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, 4916-49th Street Yellowknife, NT. Alternatives North has written the GNWT asking for a moratorium on fracking in the NWT pending completion of a comprehensive environmental review. Read the letter to the responsible minister.
The deadline has been extended to May 27 for signing the petition calling for a moratorium on fracking until a regional study with public consultations is completed.
